SUMMARY:Constitutional Amendments on the Ballot: How Could They Impact North Carolina?"
DESCRIPTION:Join Public Schools First NC and the League of Women Voters of North Carolina on Wednesday\, October 7\, 2026 at 7:30-8:30 p.m. for a conversation with legal experts to discuss the three constitutional amendments on our November ballot. \nVoters will consider amendments addressing the state’s maximum income tax rate\, limits on local property-tax levies\, and photo ID requirements for voting. This webinar will focus primarily on the two tax-related amendments and what they could mean for funding public schools and other public services. \nConstitutional amendments are consequential: once approved by voters\, they become part of the state constitution and are more difficult to change than ordinary laws. \nOur presenters will help explain what the proposed amendments would do\, how they could affect state and local government\, and what voters should understand before casting their ballots. \nOur guests are Marcus Gadson\, Associate Professor of Law at the UNC School of Law\, and Hilary Harris Klein\, Senior Council with the Southern Coalition for Social Justice. There will be time for audience Q&A. \nRegister now.
