2021 Conference

May 21, 2021 Written by Elizabeth

Our 2021 Conference was held on October 9 at the Jane McKimmon Center at NC State University.

Keynote speaker

We are thrilled to announce our keynote speaker is Noliwe Rooks, PhD, Cornell University. Rooks is the Director of American studies at Cornell University and was for ten years the associate director of African American studies at Princeton University. She is the author of Cutting School (The New Press) as well as White Money/Black Power and Hair Raising. The 2021 Conference will address the impact of privatization on our public schools over the past decade and recent legislative actions. How have various education policies and programs contributed to the increased segregation of our public schools by race and income? What is contributing to the growth in the number of high-poverty schools? Join us for this critical community conversation with our expert panelists!

More details will be announced soon.
