Early voting (or one-stop voting) is April 19 – May 5. This is the primary election, which will determine the candidates on the ballot for the general election on Election Day (Tuesday, November 6).
Unlike on Election Day, when registered voters can only vote at their specific polling place, early voters can vote at any one-stop voting site in the county. Visit the One-Stop (Early Voting) webpage to learn more.
If you do not vote during the early voting period, the last day to vote is on May 8, the day of the primary election.
Same Day Registration
Same-day registration is available for early voting, that is, if you aren’t registered to vote, you can register and vote at the same time. You cannot register to vote on Election Day (November 6); you must register during the early voting period. As far as identification goes, you will need to bring an NC driver license or other proof of residency for same-day registration, but you don’t need an ID to vote.
