Senate Bill Would Revise Principal Pay

May 21, 2018 Written by Elizabeth

Senate Bill 718, titled Revise Principal Compensation, would make adjustments to the principal salary schedule.

The bill would accomplish the following:

  • Maintain principals’ current salary schedule for the 2018 school year.
  • For 2019, a principal would receive a salary according to the salary schedule enacted in the 2018-19 budget.
  • The school growth scores from the 2017-2018 school year would become effective January 1, 2019 and would affect a principal’s compensation.
  • For 2019, 2020, and 2021, principals would be eligible to receive the “exceeded growth” column of pay if they exceeded growth or work in a low-performing school.

Sen. Phil Berger said the budget will “put student outcomes and parental choice ahead of bureaucracy.” But it DOESN'T. No meaningful student outcome checks exist, & private schools accept who they want. It is a disaster. #nced
