Please vote to SUSTAIN Governor Cooper’s veto of HB 10 – instead use the money to fund relief to the counties impacted by Hurricane Helene. At a time when our state is struggling to recover from Hurricane Helene, state funding should not be spent on funding private school tuition, especially for the wealthiest families. Please don’t vote to give our wealthiest citizens who make more than $260,000/year $3,360 per child to spend on private school tuition while we have so many relief funding needs. It is fiscally irresponsible to spend our public tax dollars on a voucher expansion while neglecting the many needs faced by communities in the mountains and public schools across the state. It is wrong to spend money on private school vouchers when NC teacher salaries have stagnated for more than a decade and are now lower than all other southern region states. Our schools can’t attract or retain quality educators when the NCGA puts them at a competitive disadvantage through funding that doesn’t even keep up with inflation. There are so many needs across our state; we urge legislators to stop wasting tax money on private school vouchers and help those impacted by Hurricane Helene. Please vote to uphold Governor Cooper’s veto of HB 10! Help our Neighbors Recover NOW!
