A Conversation with Kris Nordstrom, The NC Justice Center

This live webinar will explore the impact of privatization on our public schools with Kris Nordstrom, Senior Policy Analyst with the Education & Law Project at the NC Justice Center. Prior to starting work with the Justice Center in April 2016, Kris spent nine years with the North Carolina General Assembly’s nonpartisan Fiscal Research Division, where he provided budget analysis and information to members of the General Assembly on public education issues. The webinar will focus on his research report: Stymied by Segregation. Join the discussion about the benefits of school integration and the dangers of privatization. How have various education policies and programs contributed to the increased segregation of our public schools? Are charter schools contributing to this increase? What is contributing to the growth in the number of high-poverty schools? What can public education advocates do to support integrated schools?

Join us for this informative conversation. Time will be provided for a Q&A session with the audience.
Free and open to the public but registration is required: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/8135827895939904267

Sen. Phil Berger said the budget will “put student outcomes and parental choice ahead of bureaucracy.” But it DOESN'T. No meaningful student outcome checks exist, & private schools accept who they want. It is a disaster. #nced
