A Conversation with Tim Tyson, Duke University

This live webinar will explore the impact of privatization on our public schools with Tim Tyson, Duke University. Tyson is senior research scholar at the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University and adjunct professor of American Studies at the University of North Carolina.

His recent New York Times bestseller, The Blood of Emmett Till, was a finalist for the 2017 National Book Award and won the Robert F. Kennedy Book Award. His Blood
Done Sign My Name, won the Southern Book Award for Nonfiction and the Grawemeyer Award in Religion.

Join the discussion about the benefits of school integration and the dangers of privatization. How have various education policies and programs contributed to the increased segregation of our public schools? Are charter schools contributing to this increase? What is contributing to the growth in the number of high-poverty schools? What can public education advocates do to support integrated schools?

Join us for this informative conversation. Time will be provided for a Q&A session with the audience.

Free and open to the public but registration is required: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/6942543319509402637
