This is a pre-recorded webinar. You can submit questions during the webinar using the Questions button and we will answer them after the webinar via email. You can also email us your Questions: [email protected].

NC is at a critical crossroads in the funding of our public schools. Districts across the state are struggling to do more with less. The pandemic has highlighted issues of equity of concern to all. Join us as we discuss the Leandro court case where Judge David Lee ruled that many children in NC are not receiving a sound, basic education as promised in our state constitution.

Based on this ruling, Judge David Lee asked an independent research firm (West ED) to make recommendations on how NC could ensure that all children receive a “sound basic education.” Our discussion will include details about these critical areas of need and the required funding ($8.7M over the next eight years) along with the actions needed by NC legislators to comply with this court ruling. The new legislative session that starts January 13th where funding Leandro will be the key focus for public education and child advocates. Join us to learn how you can help advance every child’s right to a sound, basic education.
