Wear Red for Public Ed Every Wednesday!

Mineral Springs Elementary School (Ellerbe, NC) educators wear red for public ed! (September 2013)

Wearing red is a show of solidarity with and support for North Carolina’s educators.

North Carolina ranks 46th in the nation in teacher pay; teachers cite this as the primary reason for low morale. Read how educator pay and the negative effect on student learning conditions is causing some teachers to move out of state or leave the profession entirely.  Enrollment in teacher education programs is beginning to suffer as well.

If you’re wearing red on Wednesdays, please send us your photo so we can share it.

Include the name of your school, your city or town and county. In a sentence or two (more if you’d like) tell us why your public schools are important to your community.

Please email it to: patty@publicschoolsfirstnc

Between 2000 and 2022, the number of unique books challenged increased from 223 to a whopping 2,571. Now, that takes a coordinated effort! There is a devoted anti-public school campaign trying to destroy faith in public schools. Don't let them! #nced #bannedbooksweek
